Dr. Enni Harjunmaa
Title: Follow your BUZZ
Abstract: Having a soft spot for histology has led me on many detours, but I‘ve landed in my dream job and no shortcut would have equipped me for my current daily tasks. In my talk I‘d like to open up what a „Scientist“ job in industry can look like.
Short CV: I obtained my PhD in Developmental Genetics in 2012 at the University of Helsinki. I then took a break to take care of our children, until I started as a postdoc in 2014 in the FML. In 2021 I did a brief postdoc period in the MPI before starting at CeGaT as a Scientist in establishing histological methods for tumor diagnostics.
Dr. Stefan Griesbach
Title: Following a business oriented career path in biological sciences.
Abstract: There are multiple different career opportunities for scientist apart from the classical academic path. Here I want to show, on the example of my personal career, how I ended up in a business developmental role that requires a strong scientific background.
Short CV: I studied Biochemistry at the University of Tübingen and finished my thesis in molecular biology in 2012. Having already been involved with the genetic diagnostics company CeGaT, I started directly there as a Project Manager. I found my calling in Sales and have been Head of Sales & Marketing since 2014.
Dr. Magdalena Firlej
Title: Let’s talk Immatics
Abstract: Join us for an exciting opportunity to hear from Magdalena Firlej, a scientist at Immatics Biotechnologies. With her PhD completed at the FML in Tübingen just two years ago, Magdalena brings a fresh perspective to Immatics where she works on developing innovative cancer therapies. She’ll discuss what it’s really like to move from University research to industry, sharing insights on what helped her make the leap, as well as the cutting-edge work Immatics is doing by combining the discovery of true targets with the development of the right T cell receptors for immunotherapies. This talk is a great opportunity for anyone interested in biotechnology to learn from Magdalena's experiences and gain inspiration for their own career path.
