Main Focus
I'm currently studying the evolution of brown algae (Phaeophyceae), a eukaryotic lineage whose morphological complexity evolved independently from plants or animals. I'm particularly interested in the connection between the patterns of genomic evolution (sex chromosome evolution, birth of taxonomically-restricted genes) and the emergence of life-history traits in brown algae.
